Our annual change freeze is coming up.

As we prepare for the Christmas break, the Information Technology Office will apply its annual IT change freeze to minimise risk and ensure that the IT services continue to be available, trusted and secure during this period.

The change freeze starts on Monday 1 December at 5:00 pm (AWST) 2025 and ends Monday 5 January at 9:00 am (AEST) 2026.

What is the IT change freeze?

The IT change freeze period is a designated time frame during which non-essential changes, updates or new implementations cannot be made to IT systems or infrastructure. This period is typically imposed to avoid disruptions, ensure system stability and prevent potential issues during critical times when changes could cause unexpected problems.

During this change freeze period, IT system changes will be limited to emergency changes only. These are critical operational changes required to sustain business-as-usual IT services and require the approval of the Chief Information Officer.
