The University of Notre Dame Australia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Catholic University of Croatia which will open up opportunities for staff and student exchange, research collaboration and joint events.

The universities launched a new phase in their partnership with the signing of an MOU at Notre Dame’s Sydney campus on Monday, 19th February.

The five-year agreement promises to facilitate close co-operation in education, research, exchange and development.

Notre Dame and the Catholic University of Croatia will together apply for funding for the European Union’s international exchange program, Erasmus+.

This funding would facilitate study abroad opportunities for staff and students in the disciplines of Theology, Nursing, Psychology and Arts (History).

Other areas of collaboration that may be explored include joint research projects, summer school programs, events, study tours, seminars, conferences and academic meetings.

Notre Dame’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Francis Campbell, said the MOU sets the stage for a new era of collaboration with the Catholic University of Croatia.

“Notre Dame and the Catholic University of Croatia share a distinct Catholic identity and a strong desire to deliver an enriched experience for students, staff and academics,” he said.

“This international partnership demonstrates our commitment to using our networks to provide every possible opportunity the world has to offer to our university community.”

The signing ceremony was attended by Consul-General of the Republic of Croatia to New South Wales, Queensland and Northern Territory, Ivica Glasnović and the Catholic University of Croatia’s Assistant Professor of Sociology Luka Šešo and Assistant Professor of History Hrvoje Kekez.
