The University of Notre Dame Australia has honoured former staff member Tony Gray with a Vice Chancellor's Distinguished Service Medal at a special ceremony in Fremantle, recognising his outstanding service to the University.
After joining Notre Dame’s Fremantle Campus in 2013 as an IT Senior Systems Engineer Tony progressed through several roles before becoming Head of Digital Services and Networks, a position he held until departing the University in December 2025.
Throughout his tenure, he became a highly respected member of the national Information Technology team, known for his professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment to supporting staff and students.
Notre Dame Chief Service Improvement Officer, Darryl Kefford, who nominated Tony for the medal, said it was important to recognise individuals whose contribution to the University had a lasting impact on the Notre Dame community.
“Throughout his years of service, Tony consistently demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the University and its people,” he said.
“His expertise and willingness to go above and beyond ensured staff and students could continue to learn, teach and work effectively, particularly during periods of significant challenge.”
Tony played a critical role during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, helping the University rapidly transition to online teaching, learning and working arrangements.
Beyond his technical expertise, Tony was widely recognised for his collegiality, customer service and genuine care for the Notre Dame community. His commitment to the University's mission and values, combined with his exceptional standard of service.
The Vice Chancellor's Distinguished Service Medal is awarded in recognition of outstanding dedication and service to The University of Notre Dame Australia, acknowledging individuals whose contributions have significantly advanced the University's mission and strengthened its community.
