The University of Notre Dame Australia celebrated Founders' Day with a Mass and luncheon honouring the founders, benefactors, and supporters whose vision, leadership and generosity helped establish the University.
Held at Notre Dame’s Fremantle Campus, the annual event brought together many of the individuals who played a significant role in the University’s history and growth since its establishment in 1989.
The celebration included Mass in the Holy Spirit Chapel, with the Most Reverend Gerard Holohan DD, Bishop Emeritus of Bunbury, serving as the principal celebrant, and concelebrated by Fr Eamonn Conway, Fr Eric Alleaume and Fr Stuart Chalmers.
Among those attending were former Chancellors the Hon Dr Christopher Ellison AM, Denis Horgan AM, together with other long-standing donors and benefactors.
Notre Dame Chancellor, Mr Paul McClintock AO, said Founders’ Day was an opportunity to acknowledge the extraordinary contribution of those who helped build the University and continue to support its mission.
The Chancellor added that the event highlighted the importance of preserving and sharing Notre Dame’s founding vision while fostering a culture of philanthropy that will support future generations of students.
Founded in Fremantle in 1989, the University of Notre Dame Australia was established through the vision and dedication of a committed group of founders, governors, benefactors and community supporters.
Founders’ Day is an annual tradition that celebrates their legacy and acknowledges the ongoing contribution of those who continue to advance the University's mission and values.
Today, Notre Dame continues to deliver a distinctive university experience grounded in its Catholic mission, empowering students to pursue lives of purpose, leadership and service while making a positive impact in their communities.
