Notre Dame hosts first Broome Campus Open Day

18 September 2025

Notre Dame’s Broome Campus hosts its first Open Day on 23 September, celebrating 30 years with tours, info sessions, and new study options for regional students.

The University of Notre Dame Australia is proud to host its first-ever Broome Campus Open Day on Tuesday 23 September from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, a milestone event that also marks the 30th Anniversary of the Broome Campus. This exciting event invites the Broome community and prospective students to explore the unique opportunities available at Notre Dame’s Broome campus, including several new options, as we continue our focus on providing opportunities and empowering the next generation to help cultivate growth for the region. Visitors will discover a diverse and expanding range of programs offered on campus, including:

  • Allied Health
  • Indigenous Studies
  • Medicine – Kimberley Centre for Remote Medical Training (KCRMT)
  • Nursing
  • Education – our Reach Higher program commencing in 2026
  • VET programs – Diploma of Nursing and School Based Education Support
  • Pathways programs – including UniPath and Tertiary Pathway Program (TPP)
  • Higher degree research opportunities through the Nulungu Indigenous Research Institute

Additionally, the University is exploring how best to deliver our Bachelor of Commerce in Broome and will discuss this new opportunity on Open Day.

Reach Higher Program – Study Locally, Teach Locally

Launching in 2026, Notre Dame’s Reach Higher program enables aspiring teachers to earn a Bachelor of Primary Education while continuing to live and work in their local communities.

Enrolled through our Broome Campus and based on the University’s national curriculum along with

community-based support options, the program is designed to:

  • Maximise local teaching opportunities
  • Minimise relocation and income disruption
  • Strengthen community engagement
  • Offer flexible delivery and financial support through scholarships, employer contributions, and government funding

Reach Higher students will be able to undertake their course learning online (lectures and tutorials) combined with in-person practicum placements, to allow them to stay closer to home for the duration of their degree.

This initiative is ideal for those in regional, rural and remote areas who want to make a lasting impact on their communities.

Scholarships Opportunities

Students enrolled in programs at our Broome campus may be eligible for a wide range of scholarships including:

  • Destination Australia Scholarships – valued at $15,000 per year, available to domestic and international students studying in regional WA, including Broome.
  • Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships (ICECS & ICAS) – offering up to $3,000 for eligible Indigenous students
  • Catholic Education WA Regional, Rural & Remote Scholarship – valued at $4,000 per annum, supporting students from remote areas to complete a Bachelor

These scholarships are just a few more than 40 scholarships available to eligible students from our Broome Campus, which aim to reduce financial barriers and support students in achieving their educational goals.

Investing in our future Campus

Notre Dame is currently developing a new purpose-built Learning and Teaching building on the Broome Campus. In addition to our new accommodation for KCRMT students, this facility will feature modern, flexible learning spaces designed to support innovative teaching practices and enhance student experience. It will serve as a hub for collaboration, research and community engagement, reinforcing Notre Dame’s commitment to education in the Kimberley region.
