Why study this degree?
Suppose you have been teaching for some time and have the practical experience and desire to develop your education career further, this Master’s degree is the perfect course for you. The Master of Education (Curriculum) is designed to meet the needs of professional teachers like you who wish to undertake further career development.
Our flexible study options will ensure that you can accommodate your existing teaching load. Tuition will be available face-to-face and externally, either full-time or part-time. In addition, we schedule face-to-face sessions during school holidays or Saturdays.
The program consists of eight courses: two compulsory, one elective and five specialisation courses. One compulsory theology course and an elective to be chosen from Religious Education, Leadership and Management, Early Childhood Education, Special Learning Needs, and Curriculum.

Entry requirements
To be eligible for admission to the Master of Education (Curriculum), applicants must also meet the following specific requirements:
- Be eligible for teacher registration in Australia; and either
- Successfully complete the University of Notre Dame Australia Graduate Certificate of Education (Curriculum) or equivalent; or
- Have at least two years of full-time professional experience in either a primary or secondary school setting.

Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Master of Education (Curriculum) graduates will be able to:
- Critically apply and reflect on advanced knowledge and understandings of specialised educational theory and practices within the domain of curriculum studies
- Demonstrate highly developed cognitive, technical and creative skills with initiative, a high level of personal autonomy and accountability to generate understanding of complex issues in religious education
- Evaluate and apply knowledge of research principles and methods to curriculum studies within school contexts
- Demonstrate highly developed communication and technical skills to implement, justify and interpret critical issues in curriculum planning and design within educational contexts
- Plan, execute and reflect critically on a substantial research-based project and/or piece of scholarship on critical issues in curriculum studies within school settings.

With a Master of Education (Curriculum), you will be able to work in Catholic, government and independent schools in roles such as curriculum and instruction specialist, curriculum design manager, education specialist, head of a learning area and principal leadership.

Scholarships
Scholarships provide financial support to students while they are completing their studies. There are various scholarships available to prospective and current students, across all study levels and campuses.
These can be funded by Notre Dame, industry, individuals and non-profit organisations, to provide financial assistance to students to support costs associated with study. This could include buying food, paying rent, transport, and household bills, raising children as single parents, being a single-income household, becoming unemployed or caring for a sick loved one.

Domestic Fee-Paying
A domestic fee-paying place is a place at university where the student is responsible for the full cost the program.Eligible domestic fee-paying students may apply for the FEE-HELP loan scheme which assists eligible fee-paying students with the payment of all, or part, of their tuition fees, not including additional study costs such as accommodation or textbooks. Your FEE-HELP debt will be indexed each year in line with the Consumer Price Index.
