  • Biography

    Prior to joining Notre Dame early in 2015, Professor Codde had a varied career that includes working as a hospital-based biochemist, teaching at secondary and university level, over 12 years’ experience in medical research in the fields of cardiovascular disease and cancer treatment before becoming the Principal Epidemiologist for WA Health (10 years) and Director Clinical Planning for the South Metropolitan Health Service (8 years; which included early design consideration for the new Fiona Stanley Hospital).

    Over the last 30 years, he has maintained a strong interest in health research and held adjunct professorial positions at UWA and Curtin University, and an honorary Research Fellow at the Telethon Kids Institute. He has successfully supervised Masters and PhD students at each these sites and now has several at Notre Dame involved in research into homelessness, Parkinson’s disease, cardiology and cancer.

    He has published over 75 articles in refereed journals and presented his findings at a number of national and international meetings. In addition he has contributed to the production of over 40 reports published by the Commonwealth and state Health Department’s.
