  • Biography

    Ryan completed his undergraduate studies at Murdoch University, majoring in biomedical science, molecular biology and forensic biology, finishing with first class Honours before undertaking a PhD at UWA through the Australian Neuromuscular Research Institute and School of Medicine. His research focused on a juvenile motor neuron disease, spinal muscular atrophy, and the role of the survival of motor neuron protein.

    Within the School of Health Sciences, Ryan lectures anatomy, physiology, neuroscience and molecular genetics with a passion for promoting teaching innovation, student engagement and an enjoyable tertiary experience. In addition, he continues to be involved in a range of neuroscience and genetic research projects and supervises a number of students from Honours through to PhD level.  He has a number of publications resulting from his work.

    Ryan is a member of the Australian Neuroscience Society, Australian Society of Medical Research, and a sits on Combined Biological Sciences Meeting (CBSM) organising committee.
