Lloyd Pigram

Biography
Lloyd is from the Bardi and Yawuru language groups of the North West Kimberley Region in Western Australia. Lloyd completed a Graduate Diploma in Cultural and Natural Resource Management (CNRM) with Deakin University Geelong Campus in 2019 and is currently employed at the Nulungu Research Institute, University Notre Dame Australia (UNDA). Prior to his position at UNDA, Lloyd was Special Projects Coordinator at Nyamba Buru Yawuru for a number of years, assisting with innumerable projects such as repatriating ancestral remains from international museums, curating exhibitions and events. Prior to this Lloyd was worked across a range of community development projects in community services in areas relating to first nations spiritual, mental and physical health.

Teaching areas
As part of his role as a Research Fellow, Lloyd shares Nulungu's commitment in providing accessible opportunities for professional development available to the community and abroad. His experience and skills bring added value to the team of highly experienced researchers delivering the 'Two-way Research: Collaborating through Indigenous Methodologies' and the 'Introduction to Cultural Heritage Management' courses delivered through Nulungu.

Research expertise and supervision
Lloyd's growing research profile includes as a lead researcher on the collaborative project entitled "Yagarrajalajalan Nagula Buru - We all care for saltwater country” within the Joint Management of the Yawuru Nagulagun Roebuck Marine Park. He is also a member of the Nulungu research team Remote Community Energy Poverty Project,which has been collaborating with the University of Western Sydney and Original Power out of the NT. Their project's landmark report, 'A Right to Power', documents electricity disconnections across four Australian jurisdiction in remote Indigenous Australia occurring at an average of 49 times per year.
