Notre Dame's newly-established Graduate Certificate in Catholic Leadership has given Tara a comprehensive framework to successfully integrate Catholic teaching into her role as Director of Mission Integration at St John of God Public and Private Hospitals.

"I’ve gained great clarity about the distinctive nature of leading in a Catholic organisation,” says Tara.

Tara is applying her knowledge from the course into her everyday work which is enriching her leadership.

“My role is to assist leaders in the organisation to integrate mission into their everyday work, and to look at the organisational culture in the light of what it means to be a ministry of the Church,” says Tara.

The program has given me a deeper understanding of what it means to work in a Catholic agency and has personally developed my own leadership skills.

The Graduate Certificate in Catholic Leadership comprises four intensive units: Catholic Mission & Identity, Leadership & Management in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, Leading Change in a Catholic Context and Catholic Leadership in Action.

“The program has given me a deeper understanding of what it means to work in a Catholic agency and has personally developed my own leadership skills. There’s not a day where I don’t think about what I’ve learnt at Notre Dame in what I practice at work.”

“Being a leader is about supporting and empowering people to become all they can be – to travel a journey together towards common vision.”

“It’s about seeing what is within people – what their gifts and their passions are and creating an environment where people can truly flourish, and in turn the organisation can flourish.”
