Thrilling outdoor pursuits such as mountain hiking, snowboarding and canoeing – combined with cross-cultural learning – made Esther Power’s five-month stay at Kings University College at Western University in London, Canada, truly memorable.

Through Notre Dame’s Study Abroad program, Esther discovered the rich diversity of Canada’s multicultural society from a social point of view and from the classroom where she worked alongside students from South Korea, India, the United Kingdom and Colombia.

“It was an incredibly enriching learning experience as I adapted to a different teaching routines and gained new and varied perspectives through the warm welcome I received from students and staff at Kings University College,” the Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Arts student said.

“I was fascinated by the blend of British, French and Indigenous history and culture as well as the country’s progressive attitude in their acceptance of refugees.

“Notre Dame’s Study Abroad program gives students a whole new perspective on their future career. This experience taught me to consider my career with a global worldview and a greater perspective on how my decisions can impact others.”
