“I have always thought of myself as a global citizen and Notre Dame has really helped me to realise the many opportunities available to me,” says third year Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Arts student Esther. “I hope to have a career solidly based on the protection and advancement of human rights, particularly for women and children.”

Esther, who is majoring in Politics & International Relations, says that Notre Dame provides the intellectual and caring environment that she was seeking in her ideal university.

“From the time I stepped foot on campus, I knew that Notre Dame was going to be a place where I would not only be able to thrive, but also a place where all my goals would be encouraged,” she says. “I received other offers from a number of other universities, but I chose to attend Notre Dame for these reasons and I never once regretted it.”

The 21-year-old student, who is from Sydney’s Macarthur region, was also looking for a degree that offered plenty of real-life experience as well as theoretical learning.

Our lecturers are constantly challenging and teaching us about how theory is applied in real life situations,” she says. “The university recognises the importance of practical experience.  So I won’t just be receiving a piece of paper, but years of knowledge, new skills and an amazing network of friends, mentors and supporters.”
