1.1.2 How important is academic integrity at Notre Dame

Academic integrity is about acting in an honest and diligent way in all academic work. It basically means that students should do their own academic work and acknowledge when sources are used in their work. For example, when you use information from other sources, such as academic articles, it is important to acknowledge that specific source by using the relevant referencing technique.

Maintaining academic integrity is important as not doing so has implications for you and the University. The aim and importance of maintaining a high level of academic integrity at any university is to ensure that all students can be confident that they are at a university with a positive reputation for high quality courses and the awarding of credible qualifications.

AIM will take students through the basic principles, rules and information related to academic integrity and also looks at specific skills such as referencing. It is very important that students not only work through the content in AIM but ensure throughout their course that they are up-to-date with the information related to academic integrity.
