"Aboriginal Studies gives us the knowledge of history and contemporary issues for Aboriginal people, with the content taught from their perspective," says Graduate Certificate in Aboriginal Studies student Sarah.

Firing Sarah's motivation to study at Notre Dame's Broome Campus was her ambition to gain a greater understanding of the hidden history of Aboriginal people in Australia. She hopes to apply this knowledge in the workplace and inform others who lack understanding of and empathy with Aboriginal issues.

"The course is revealing, with content that has been endorsed and done in consultation with Aboriginal people. It feels more real, what we really should be learning."

Describing Notre Dame as a warm and welcoming environment, Sarah welcomes the flexibility of the course and the blended delivery mode which allows her to work and study at the same time.

"I chose this course in Broome for the ability to attend face-to-face, but also to collaborate with students from right across Australia."

"Being situated in the Kimberley, the great respect that is held for Notre Dame between the Aboriginal community and Notre Dame was the right setting to do this course."
