Advanced Standing

Specified/unspecified credit application/uncredentialled experience

Advanced Standing is credit granted towards a degree program for study already undertaken at a recognised institution or by recognition of prior experience. If you have completed study including single subjects at any university or the University of Notre Dame Australia, you may be eligible for credit toward your studies at the University of Notre Dame Australia.

1. Submission deadlines

To ensure your application is processed before the Census Date, please submit your application by the following deadlines:

Intake Continuing students New students
Semester 1, 2026 Friday, 23 January 2026 Friday, 6 February 2026
Semester 2, 2026 Friday, 3 July 2026 Friday, 17 July 2026

2. Late applications and financial liability

Applications will not be accepted after the submission deadlines. This strict cut-off ensures your application is processed prior to the Census Date (Financial Penalty Date). If an application is approved after the financial penalty date by the School, the course/s for credit will be removed from the student record with no financial penalty. We strongly encourage all students to apply as early as possible.

3. Before you apply

  • Please refer to the Procedure: Credit for important information about applying for Advanced Standing, as well as the FAQs.
  • Students are entitled to one Advanced Standing application per program at no cost. Subsequent applications for the same program incur a $125 administration fee. Pay fee here.
  • We strongly recommend seeking enrolment advice from your School before applying. This helps avoid enrolling in courses for which you may receive credit.
  • In accordance with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council requirements, applications will not be accepted from Nursing students who have completed study outside Australia. Contact the School of Nursing & Midwifery if you have any questions.

4. Mandatory documentation

Your application will not be processed unless the following documents are attached:

  • A certified copy or a link to your My eQuals transcript.
  • Detailed outlines for each course being proposed for credit (from the year the course was taken).
  • If your documents are in a language other than English, they must be translated by a NAATI-accredited translator (Australia) or a recognised accrediting body (Overseas).

5. How the process works

  • Your application is automatically sent to your School for academic review. If you have any questions regarding your application, please contact your School.
  • Once assessed by the School, it is referred to the Advanced Standing team for final processing.
  • You will be notified of the outcome via your student email.

If there is insufficient space in your application please contact your School for advice.
