Student2Student Mentoring Program

Explore university life and plan your next step

Whether you have a uni degree in mind or are still exploring, Student2Student mentoring can help you work out what comes next, with someone to support you along the way.

This free, eight-month program is for Year 12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across Western Australia who are interested in studying at any university.

You’ll connect with a Notre Dame student mentor, experience university life at a four-day Uni Camp in Fremantle and meet other Year 12 students exploring their futures. Along the way, you’ll discover courses and careers, build confidence and study skills, and get help preparing for university.

Uni Camp in Fremantle

Your mentoring journey begins with four days based at Notre Dame’s Fremantle campus. Meet students from across WA, get to know your mentor and experience what university could be like for you.

During Uni Camp, you’ll participate in the following.

  • Visit Notre Dame, UWA, ECU and Curtin University.
  • Try university lectures or workshops that match your interests.
  • Explore courses, career pathways and how to apply.
  • Hear from inspiring speakers and meet university staff who can support you.
  • Explore accommodation options.
  • Make new connections and enjoy activities together.

A uni student mentor to support you

You’ll be matched with a Notre Dame student mentor who can share their experience, answer your questions and help you make informed decisions about your future.

You’ll meet online once a month for 45–60 minutes, at a time that suits you both. Sessions are relaxed but each has a clear focus.

Together, you can work on:

  • Choosing study and career pathways
  • Building study skills and preparing for exams
  • Applying to university
  • Getting ready for university life

Occasional in-person sessions may be arranged for a specific purpose, with your parent or guardian’s approval.

Mentors are carefully selected for their skills, experience and ability to connect with young people. All mentors hold a current Working with Children Card and National Police Clearance.
