  • The Aboriginal Health Pathways Scholarships

    Value: $5,000 plus $1,500 for material support and resources

    The purpose of the Scholarship is to provide support for Aboriginal students to access and attain tertiary qualifications in health related disciplines offered within the following Schools:

    a. School of Health Sciences;
    b. School of Medicine;
    c. School of Nursing and Midwifery; or
    d. School of Physiotherapy.

  • The Aboriginal Medical Student (SoMF) Scholarship

    The purpose of the Scholarship is to provide financial support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) in the School of Medicine, Fremantle Campus.

    The number and value of scholarships awarded each year will be at the discretion of the Selection Committee.

    To be eligible for the Scholarship applicants must:

    1. Be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and state that he/she identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and is recognised by his/her community as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person;
    2. Be enrolled as a full-time student at The University of Notre Dame Australia in the School of Medicine, Fremantle;
    3. Be able to demonstrate satisfactory academic achievement throughout the year in which the Scholarship is awarded; and
    4. Be able to demonstrate the circumstances set out in the Selection Criteria.

  • The Beasley Family Scholarship in Medicine and Nursing

    Value: $5,000

    The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist and encourage Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in the School of Medicine or the School of Nursing & Midwifery at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle.

    To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must:

    1. Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and state that he/she identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and is recognised by his/her community as a person of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent;
    2. Be enrolled in the School of Medicine or the School of Nursing & Midwifery at the University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle Campus; and
    3. Be able to demonstrate that their educational opportunities are limited due to adverse circumstances as set out in the Selection Criteria.

  • The Cancer Detection Centre for Women Research Scholarship

    The purpose of this Scholarship is to encourage and support medical research training in the area of women’s health, and provide financial support to postgraduate students with exceptional research promise to pursue a career in medical research. The term of this research scholarship is up to two years for Master by Research recipients and three years for Doctor of Philosophy recipients. Where students are enrolled part time, the value of the award will be half that of the standard full-time rate.

    To be eligible for the Scholarship applicants must:

    a. Be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia;
    b. Be enrolled (full time or part-time) in a postgraduate program in the School of Medicine at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle Campus;
    c. Not be in receipt of any other scholarship or research financial support (RTP stipends excluded); and
    d. Be conducting research or training for research in one of the areas listed in the Scholarship Conditions.

  • The D’Souza Family Scholarship

    Value: $5,000

    The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist and encourage a student for whom educational opportunities are limited because of financial or personal hardship. The Scholarship is limited to students enrolled in the School of Health Sciences; School of Medicine; School of Nursing and Midwifery; or School of Physiotherapy.

    To be eligible for the Scholarship applicants must:

    1. Be enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle, in one of the above listed schools; and
    2. Be able to demonstrate that their educational opportunities are limited due to adverse circumstances as set out in the Selection Criteria.

  • The Frank Reedy Scholarship in Medicine

    Value: $9,000

    The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist and encourage female students from rural Western Australia who wish to commence their studies with the School of Medicine at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle.

    To be eligible for the Scholarship applicants must:

    1. Be enrolled in MEDI6100 in the School of Medicine, Fremantle;
    2. Be a female student from rural Western Australia; and
    3. Meet the criteria to be considered a rural student. Rural background is defined as residency for 5 years consecutively or 10 years cumulatively in an ASGS-RA 2-5 area.

  • The Fremantle Heart Patients Support Group - Hugh Jones Memorial Scholarship

    Value: $2,500

    The Scholarship is to assist and encourage a third year medical student, for whom educational opportunities are limited because of financial or personal hardship.

    To be eligible for a Scholarship applicants must:

    1. Be enrolled in MEDI6300 in the School of Medicine, Fremantle for the Scholarship year; and
    2. Be able to demonstrate that their educational opportunities are limited due to adverse circumstances as set out in the Selection Criteria.

  • The MADAL Scholarships in Medicine

    Value: $7,000 (Up to 3 Scholarships)

    The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist and encourage students in financial need enrolled in the School of Medicine at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle.

    To be eligible for the Scholarship applicants must:

    1. Be enrolled as a full time student in the School of Medicine, Fremantle; and
    2. Be able to demonstrate that their educational opportunities are limited due to adverse circumstances as set out in the Selection Criteria.

  • The M. K. Tandon Medical Research Scholarship

    The purpose of the Scholarship is to provide support for research training and/or training leading to research that targets issues of particular relevance to Aboriginal Health and/or respiratory disorders.

    One or more Scholarships will be awarded per annum, each with a total value equivalent to the annual stipend payable for an Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship as calculated in accordance with the Commonwealth Scholarships Guidelines (Research) 2010. The term of the Scholarship is up to two years for Master by Research recipients and three years for Doctor of Philosophy recipients. Where students are enrolled part time, the value of the Scholarship will be half that of the standard full-time Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship rate. Candidates in concurrent receipt of another scholarship are eligible for the Scholarship. The Selection Committee reserves the right to award it to a value less than the total amount as set out above.

    To be eligible for consideration applicants must:

    a. Be undertaking a Higher Degree by Research in the School of Medicine, Fremantle, including but not limited to a Master by Research or Doctor of Philosophy degree;
    b. Be conducting research or training for research in one of the areas listed in the Scholarship Conditions.

  • The Morris Research Scholarship

    Value: $1,000

    The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist a medical student who satisfies the Eligibility Requirements with the cost of attending a research conference to present their research paper.

    To be eligible for consideration applicants must:

    1. Be enrolled in a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and undertaking an approved final year research project at the School of Medicine, Fremantle, or be enrolled in a Higher Degree by Research attached to the School of Medicine, Fremantle;
    2. Be in receipt of all necessary Human Research Ethics Committee approvals relating to the research project; and
    3. Have been accepted to present the findings of their research project at a national or international conference.

  • The Patricia V Kailis Research Scholarship

    Value: $30,000 per annum for a term of three years

    The purpose of the Scholarship is to support students undertaking a Research Degree in the field of Health or Medical Research at The University of Notre Dame Australia. The Scholarship is co-jointly sponsored by the University and the Spinnaker Health Research Foundation.

    To be eligible for the Scholarship applicants must:

    a. Have completed a Master’s Degree or a Bachelor's Degree with Honours; and
    b. Be enrolled as a domestic student in a Doctor of Philosophy degree at The University of Notre Dame Australia, attached to the School of Medicine, Fremantle.

  • Personal and Professional Development Visiting Scholarship

    Value: $3,000

    The purpose of the Scholarship is to support the costs of travel, board, accommodation and administration fees for overseas elective placements undertaken by final year medical students of The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle, at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

    To be eligible for consideration applicants must:

    1. Be currently enrolled in the School of Medicine, Fremantle; and
    2. Have successfully completed their requirements for their elective (MED400); and
    3. Be a student of Good Standing in the School of Medicine, Fremantle.

  • The St John of God Health Care - Dr Michael Quinlan Medical Elective Scholarship

    Value: up to $5,000

    The purpose of the Scholarship is to support the costs of travel, board, accommodation and administration fees for overseas or national elective placements undertaken by final year medical students of The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle.

    To be eligible for the Scholarship applicants must:

    1. Be currently enrolled in the School of Medicine, Fremantle;
    2. Have successfully completed their requirements for their final year elective;
    3. Be a student of good standing; and
    4. Have chosen either an overseas location or a disadvantaged area within Australia for their elective placement.

  • The Thomas Davis Medical Research Scholarship

    The Scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the School of Medicine, Fremantle undertaking Higher Degree by Research qualifications, including but not limited to Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy degrees (PhD). The Scholarship aims to encourage and support medical research and training, and provide financial support to students with exceptional research promise to pursue a career in medical research.

    To be eligible for the Scholarship applicants must:

    1. Be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia;
    2. Be enrolled (full time or part-time) in a Higher Degree by Research postgraduate program in the School of Medicine, Fremantle at The University of Notre Dame Australia; and
    3. Submit an application for the Scholarship in accordance with clause 5 of the Scholarship Conditions.

    Candidates currently in receipt of any other research scholarship are still eligible for The Thomas Davis Medical Research Scholarship.
