Legal Clinic

One of the key Objects of The University of Notre Dame Australia is training students for the profession within the context of Catholic faith and values. The School of Law recognises the importance of providing a practiced-based legal education and preparing ethical students for the legal profession who have excellent communication, research, problem-solving, and professional skills and attributes.

The Notre Dame Legal Clinic, established in 2016, provides students with the opportunity to engage in practical legal education with a focus on promoting justice for all and service to others. Law students who are enrolled in the course ‘Law in Context’ have the opportunity to undertake an internship in the Legal Clinic, working under the supervision of the Course Coordinator and practising solicitors. Students are able to develop their legal and professional skills while developing a far greater understanding of the needs of those in our community who experience great challenges in accessing the legal system.

The Legal Clinic is managed by a team of highly dedicated school staff and supported by Alumni and members of the legal profession who give generously of their time and expertise to work as volunteers offering free legal advice and information to indigent members of the community. The Legal Clinic is primarily dedicated to family law but has provided advice on criminal and commercial matters. Legal advice provided is by appointment only and we invite members of the community to browse the Legal Clinic website for further information.
