Organise funding, accommodation, and transport

See Scholarships, MSAND website and Facebook pages for information.

There are several scholarships available to support medical students.

Please ensure your accommodation and transport have been sorted out well ahead of time because you will not have time to organise these matters once the academic year has started.

Attendance at all orientation sessions is compulsory.

MEDI6100 Community Engagement Week

A key part of the MEDI6100 program is Community Engagement Week, where all first-year students spend 3-4 days in the Wheatbelt, accommodated with a host family. That week is planned Week 8, 12-15 March 2024. Students who need to organise their plans around childcare or similar, please take note. Please note attendance at this placement is compulsory for all first-year students.

Any queries should be directed to the Aboriginal, Rural & Remote Health Placements Coordinator at medicineruralplacements@nd.edu.au

Please advise if you have a medical reason or family commitment, e.g. sole carer (NOT work commitments) that means you would obtain a medical certificate to exempt you from spending 3 nights away from home. Students with a medical exemption from the 4 day/3 night placement are expected to undertake a virtual placement.

All students are required to complete the MEDI6100 Community Engagement Week Student Questionnaire by 19th January 2024.
