With dedicated passionate staff, state-of-the-art simulation facilities and a comprehensive contemporary curriculum, The University of Notre Dame’s School of Nursing is highly-regarded by the nursing profession. Due to our personalised approach to education and focus on pastoral care you will experience a learning environment where you will become a confident registered nurse. Our program has been developed in consultation with a range of key stakeholders including nursing academics, nurse educators, senior nursing administrators, nurses representing professional nursing organisations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses, and registered nurses from a variety of clinical settings.
The program includes more than 1,000 hours of professional workplace experience to be undertaken in a range of practice settings including aged care, mental health, medical and surgical nursing, critical care, paediatrics, and rural environments. Fully accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council, a degree from the School of Nursing allows you to practice as a Registered Nurse once you have obtained your registration with the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Work integrated learning
A special feature of Notre Dame’s Nursing degree is the availability of substantial clinical experience. The Bachelor of Nursing program allows students to develop their skills in an intensive workplace environment. Students log more than 1,000 hours of practicum experience during the course of their degree. Placements take place in public and private hospitals, medical centres, community health centres and voluntary service agencies. As a result, Notre Dame Nursing graduates are highly regarded for their knowledge, critical thinking and clinical competence skills.

Mentoring / academic support
Notre Dame’s Mentor Program aims to smooth the transition from school (or work) to university life by linking first year students with student mentors. In addition, Student Success helps students formulate their goals and develop the skills and confidence needed to attain them. Student Success offers a range of courses and programs, plus support for students with special educational requirements.

Facilities
Nursing student have the use of the Benedict XVI Medical Library, which holds more than 5000 print items, 20,000 e-books and 70 databases and clinical reference tools, primarily in the areas of nursing and medicine. You will also have access to St Benedict’s Library at Broadway which caters to the other schools on the Sydney campus. You will also have access to the state-of-the-art facilities at the Darlinghurst site, including simulated wards.
