Pre-placement requirements

Here is a checklist to make sure you are prepared before you go on placement.

Prior to coming to the Kimberley on placement please complete the following:

  • submit the WACRH online Cultural Orientation plan for health professionals working with Aboriginal people. The WACHR Cultural Awareness training course is free and provided by the Western Australian Centre for Rural Health. At the end of the course you will be provided with a certificate, that you must upload as part of your Majarlin registration.
  • complete the registration form; and
  • submit your Immunisation, Working with Children and Criminal Record checks.

On arrival:

  • Attend the one-day Orientation, including Cultural Security training.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary education days and events as appropriate.
  • Submit your checks and/or paperwork that have been requested of you by your university or host organisation for the initial day of your placement.

Students allocated a placement with the Majarlin Work Readiness Program are required to complete the following:

  • Introduce yourself to your supervisor – cover letter/resume and email.
  • View the site descriptors and links.
  • Read the section on the Work Readiness Placement Program.
