Lithgow Clinical School

Situated 900 metres above sea level on the western edge of the Blue Mountains, Lithgow is a welcoming city of 21,000 residents just 150km from Sydney. The region is surrounded by World Heritage-listed National Park and balances its rich industrial heritage with vibrant tourism.

The Lithgow Clinical School is located on the grounds of The Lithgow District Hospital, a 46 bed integrated facility with a maternity unit, operating theatres, specialist consulting rooms and a full suite of Allied Health Services. The School provides a state-of-the-art learning environment complete with consulting rooms, SimMan training room, student common area, and a recently upgraded 90-seat lecture theatre.

Under the guidance of passionate rural clinicians, medical students gain hands-on experience across general practice, intensive care, ward rounds, aged care, surgery, anaesthetics, and maternity.

Additionally, the school hosts a paediatric outreach clinic delivered by KidMed Medical Centre, where students gain supervised clinical experience caring for local and Aboriginal children with complex developmental, behavioural, and paediatric needs.

The student accommodation is comprised of a six-bedroom home 500m from the hospital, and a self-contained accommodation area on campus, comprised of four bedrooms, each with ensuite, for visiting students.
