St Vincent's & Mater Clinical School
St Vincent's Hospital is dedicated to supporting the development and education of all healthcare professionals. The founding Sisters of Charity believed that, in order to maintain a high standard of care, it was important to foster an environment of learning and teaching.
St Vincent's Hospital is in the heart of Darlinghurst, opposite the Medical School campus. It offers a wide range of specialist departments and a widely renowned Emergency Department.
St Vincent's Campus comprises three separate components, St Vincent's Clinic, St Vincent's Private Hospital and St Vincent's Public Hospital. As well, there is an association with the Garvan Institute for Medical Research, the Victor Chang Institute for Cardiac Research and the Kinghorne Cancer Centre.
There is a range of sub speciality medical and surgical units that would be expected from a major Teaching and Research Institution. The Haematological and Heart / Lung transplant and HIV Research units are National Centres of excellence.
Outpatient clinics include a wide range of disciplines from Ophthalmology, Endocrinology, Psychiatry to the Drug and Alcohol department.
Our students are closely supervised by our Discipline Leaders in Medicine (Prof Jacob Sevastos) and Surgery (Prof Reg Lord).
The Mater Hospital is a teaching hospital for the St Vincent's / Mater Clinical School. The Mater Hospital is a private hospital in North Sydney and has many specialists practising in a variety of areas including Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, Cardio Vascular Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine, General Medicine and General Surgery.
