Blackboard Support


You can log into Blackboard under Your tools on the Students page.

Once you are on the login page, type in your Notre Dame ID and password then click on the Login button.

Once you are successfully logged in, you should see your main Blackboard Dashboard displaying announcements, any Notre Dame community sites and courses you are enrolled in.


Please ensure that one of the supported browsers is being used with Blackboard, ie. Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Blackboard no longer supports Internet Explorer. 

Users launching Collaborate Ultra sessions with the Edge web browser may not hear audio in session. Please, avoid using Microsoft Edge for Collaborate Ultra sessions.

Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome are the recommended web browsers for Blackboard. Some Blackboard functionality may not work properly when accessed via unsupported browsers. Students are encouraged to use Firefox, Opera or Chrome on Apple devices.

If you are experiencing problems in Blackboard, please also ensure that you clear browser data (cookies and cached images & files).

    Make sure your browser has the most recent updates:

    Clear your browser cache or temporary Internet files:

    Enable JavaScript:

    Is the browser pop-up blocker turned on? If so, the site must be added to the blocker's allowed sites.

    Manage your cookies. Some applications require that cookies are enabled.

    Make sure your plug-ins are updated.

Software and Plug-ins

To use Blackboard your computer may need to have some software and plug-ins installed. If you are accessing Blackboard from a ND computer, then all of the necessary software should already be installed, but to access from home you may need to install some software.

  • Technologies Not Supported

    The following technologies are not supported:

    • Windows XP
    • Windows, Mac OS, and Linux systems not running a supported browser
    • Internet Explorer
    • Firefox versions 56 and lower
    • Chrome versions 62 and lower
    • Safari versions 11 and lower
    • JRE 5 for Blackboard Learn Original user interfaces

If you are experiencing issues while using Blackboard or Collaborate, contact your IT service desk. In order for us to assist you as quickly as possible, please have the following information ready:

  • Name and ID (if you have a preferred name please include this also)
  • Contact details (include mobile if off campus)
  • Description or image of error message/code
  • Time issue occurred (if more frequent include dates)
  • Device issue occurred on (PC, laptop, venue machine)
  • Browser used
  • Course Code and/or Course Name
