    Notre Dame University Australia has partnered with leading healthcare providers to develop this unique one-year program for Registered Nurses. You must be employed with a participating health service provider and have the hospital's support to undertake this program.

    Online units include Reflective Practice, Management and Ethics of Professional Life. Before enrolling in this program, you must have completed a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing. Upon graduation, you can take a Master of Nursing (Clinical Nursing), which requires a further two semesters of part-time study.

    Master of Nursing (Clinical Nursing)

    This program comprises of an additional two semesters of part-time study. If you undertake a Masters degree, you will be allocated a research supervisor to support you in your research engagement in an area relevant to your specialty of nursing practice.

  • Entry requirements

    The following entry requirements apply to this program:

    • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or provisional registration, whichever is applicable at the time of commencement
    • Nursing or other appropriate degree or the equivalent
    • Minimum of one year relevant post registration nursing experience
    • Candidates must be employed with a participating health service provider and have their hospital's support to undertake the program.
  • Learning outcomes

    Upon successful completion of the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Nursing graduates will be able to:

    1. Implement advanced practice knowledge, skills and competencies that enhance their capacity to work safely and effectively in a dynamic and challenging healthcare environment in the hospital and community
    2. Communicate with influence and negotiate persuasively to achieve optimum outcomes for healthcare consumers from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
    3. Model professional behaviours to colleagues and students that provide clients with culturally appropriate and socially just care within a medico-legal framework
    4. Cultivate productive working relationships by facilitating inclusiveness and valuing diversity within the healthcare team
    5. Actively contribute to the professional development of a range of members within the healthcare team
    6. Establish a mechanism for lifelong learning by reflecting on practice to apply and build professional expertise; and
    7. Steer and implement change by conducting national and international research retrieval and enquiry that incorporates philosophical, technical, and social justice perspectives on healthcare.

    A domestic fee-paying place is a place at university where the student is responsible for the full cost the program.

    Eligible domestic fee-paying students may apply for the FEE-HELP loan scheme which assists eligible fee-paying students with the payment of all, or part, of their tuition fees, not including additional study costs such as accommodation or textbooks. Your FEE-HELP debt will be indexed each year in line with the Consumer Price Index.
