• Entry requirements

  The following entry requirements apply to this program:

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or provisional registration, whichever is applicable at the time of commencement
  • Nursing of other appropriate degree or the equivalent
  • Minimum of one year relevant post registration nursing experience.

• Learning outcomes

  Upon successful completion of the Graduate Diploma of Nursing graduates will be able to:

  1. Synthesise advanced theoretical knowledge and skills required of the Registered Nurse to undertake increasingly complex nursing activities
  2. Critique the effectiveness of national and international models of nursing practice and policy to continually improve outcomes for patients in the hospital and community
  3. Employ critical thinking and clinical reasoning to solve ethical and legal dilemmas in the culturally and socially diverse healthcare environment
  4. Communicate and negotiate with influence to achieve optimum patient care outcomes
  5. Collaborate with a range of professionals to achieve the common goals of best possible healthcare outcomes for individuals and communities
  6. Reflect on practice to facilitate awareness and knowledge of one’s own cognition and abilities, establishing a mechanism for lifelong learning
  7. Actively contribute to the professional development of a range of members of the healthcare team; and
  8. Conduct national and international research retrieval and enquiry to inform contemporary nursing practice.

  Designed specifically for working professionals, the Graduate Diploma of Nursing can be combined with full time employment, with weekly contact between two and four hours per subject.

  A Graduate Diploma of Nursing will allow you to advance your nursing career into a leadership role.

  You will learn from our academics, who are leaders in their field. There are no practicum requirements for this program.

  A domestic fee-paying place is a place at university where the student is responsible for the full cost the program.

  Eligible domestic fee-paying students may apply for the FEE-HELP loan scheme which assists eligible fee-paying students with the payment of all, or part, of their tuition fees, not including additional study costs such as accommodation or textbooks. Your FEE-HELP debt will be indexed each year in line with the Consumer Price Index.
