Internship Program
The Business Internship Unit is a core component of the School of Business Program at the University of Notre Dame Australia. Each undergraduate student in the School of Business is required to successfully complete this fully-graded unit in order to graduate.
The Business Internship unit is both developmental and experiential in nature with students actively partaking in the following three phases, with the first two phases being classroom-based over 9 teaching weeks.
- Phase 1: Workplace Preparation - A series of seminars are conducted by the Course Coordinator of the Human Resource Management Program which cover topics such as current employment demographics, resume writing, interview preparation and general workplace conduct. All of these topics are necessary to prepare you for the process of successfully seeking and undertaking employment.
- Phase 2: Workplace Insights – Industry leaders are invited by the School to conduct presentations to the students to share their valuable insights into their particular industry and work practices.
- Phase 3: The Internship Practicum – The internship must be undertaken in the area of your discipline major and can be paid or unpaid. It can be completed with more than one organisation if desired and can be a domestic or international placement. You cannot commence your internship until you have completed Phases 1 and 2, which conclude in Week 9 of the Semester in which you undertake the unit. The Practicum Provider Agreement form must be submitted prior to the commencement of your placement. This should be submitted four weeks in advance to ensure all internal paperwork has been finalized for insurance purposes.
In essence, your Internship experience is designed to complement your formal studies by introducing you to a practical working environment. Having industry experience to add to your formal qualification may assist you to develop a competitive edge in the workforce market. Additionally, undertaking the internship also allows you to identify key skills that you may need to develop prior to moving into your new career.

Completing your enrolment
Getting started as a first year student
For students enrolling in 2026, you can access your program planner on your school support page, located under Step C of Tab 3 - Enrolment.
These pages provide essential information about your program, including the recommended courses and support links to your school.
Program planners for continuing students
As you move into your second year and beyond, program planners are available at the end of your Program Requirements. These planners will help you understand those courses that are required or flexible for each semester.
Your school may provide additional supporting planners or course offering documents in the school's resources section.
Additionally, you can find detailed course information—including name, code, class, and start dates—on the Course Offerings table located on the Calendars and Timetables page.
Support to complete your enrolment
If you are uncertain about which courses to enrol in or would like to complete your enrolment with assistance, you can book a 1-on-1 session with an advisor. They can address any questions you have about your program requirements and other important aspects of course selection.
