The University of Notre Dame Australia was established through an Act of the Parliament of Western Australia in December 1989.

  • Status

    National private Catholic university, governed by a Board of Trustees and a Board of Directors and a Board of Governors, each with separate Statutory roles.

  • Campuses

    Fremantle opened in 1992 with 50 postgraduate Education students.

    Broome opened in 1994 on the site of the former Nulungu Girls College. Has a special focus on training for careers in rural health and education.

    Sydney

    • Broadway opened in 2006 by then Prime Minister, John Howard, adjacent to Australia’s oldest consecrated Catholic Church – St Benedict’s.
    • Darlinghurst opened in 2008, and blessed by Pope Benedict XVI, located on the Darlinghurst Parish site opposite St Vincent’s Hospital

    Applicants can apply directly or via the tertiary admissions centres TISC (WA) and UAC (NSW)

    Internship and/or practicum placements are embedded in all Notre Dame undergraduate degrees. Notre Dame is the only university in Australia with a four-week compulsory internship as part of each Business program. Students make valuable contacts with employers as a result.
